Apartment Lighting Arduino Style

An array of 18 RGB LEDs mounted on the ceiling are controlled by an Arduino. Also capable of ambient lighting or holding specific colors, but that’s less fun to watch

Technical:

2 channels, each uses 3 of the 6 PWM pins. Line level audio is fed through filters to determine volumes at different frequencies. Software determines when the volume is above the average threshold and triggers the hit. Each LED is a 3 watt RGB star, 1 watt for each channel. They are mounted on heat sinks, placed in tuna cans, and finally covered with a plastic lens to keep the LEDs bright light from destroying retinas. Combined total of all LED’s on to make white light is 54 watts. Transistors are used to handle the current.
