Minecraft: Piston Lighting – Let’s Upgrade the Rave Room

In my new Minecraft series “Let’s Upgrade”, we fix up my Rave Room with automated piston ceiling lights. I’ll also be building a beatbox into the room so we can make our own techno beats.

Halsey Ceiling Fan

this is a remake of my original video.the original video had poor lighting and took too long (it was taken at night). halsey ceiling fan in brass, in the kitcken at my grandparents. this fan is a very great air mover. controlled on a 3 speed knob, with 2 off settings. the motor dosent even take up the whole housing, which makes no sense. the fan has a hideously ugly 3-way light kit, as shown. the fan wobbles, because the latch that connects the motor to the downrod is loose. just touching the fan will make it shake…

42″ Crest 2000 Series Ceiling Fan

I pulled out my Crest this morning. I know there have been a lot of requests for a better video of this fan, so here you go. I show the fan on all speeds this time!

UPDATE: I was able to fix the light kit issue with this fan! After stringing an extra black wire through the switch housing directly to the light kit, the light kit now works independently of the fan. The light can be on or off with the fan on any setting, and it works fine. The whole fan works perfectly now!

Lakers vs. Bulls Christmas 2011 – Smoke from Ceiling at Staples Center

12/25/11. Staples Center. Los Angeles, CA. Lakers vs. Bulls.

During the 4th quarter, I smelled an odd metallic/burning odor, but didn’t think much of it at first. It wasn’t until the middle of the fourth quarter many of us looked up and saw smoke billowing from what appeared to be a light fixture up in the rafters. I was expecting to hear a voice over the PA system inform us that we’d be evacuating the arena, but it didn’t happen. The game went on, while many of us in the 300 section looked on to to see what would happen next (mind you, a very close and exciting season-opener between the Bulls and Lakers was going on). After a couple of minutes, we finally saw an employee approach the scene on one of the catwalks. Within minutes, several more could also be seen inspecting the scene from a nearby catwalk. One brought a fire extinguisher, but it didn’t appear to have been used. This was occuring right above what I’d estimate to bee the 100-section behind the team benches.

After about 15 minutes, the smoke died down, but the the stench up in the 300 section was still pretty strong. The game ended and we all exited without much fanfare.
