THIS IS A VIDEO TO SHOW THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE BIG SYSTEMS OUT THERE. THE BLACK UNIT IN THE BACK GROUND IS THE ONE THAT IM MAKING FOR A FRIEND WHO WILL USE IT WITH GREAT GLADNESS. HIS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY LIGHTENING. IT WOULD COST TOO MUCH FOR REPAIRS AND NEW DEPOSITS AND OLD BILL TO RECONNECT, ESPECIALY WITH REPAIRS FOR A NEW SERVICE BOX AND UPDATING TO A BREAKER SYSTEM AND THE WIRES DESTROYED IN THE HOUSE. ALTHOUGH THIS UNIT WILL NOT NORMALLY SUPPLY A NORMAL HOUSE HOLD IT WILL ALLOW HIM TO HAVE LIGHTS , RADIO, TV , CELLPHONE CHARGING, AND A FEW MORE THINGS BUT NOT ALL AT ONCE OR CONSTANTLY. BUT 20 DOLLARS A DAY FOR GAS IN A GENERATOR IS NOT AN OPTION EITHER. A BAG OF ICE, AND A COOLER IS. WE ARE MAKING A SOLAR HOT WATER HEATER AS WELL. BY 1:00 PM HE WILL HAVE ENOUGH WATER TO DO DISHES AND GET A NICE HOT SHOWER. THEN RELAX BY THE TV OR RADIO FOR A FEW HOURS ON STORED ENERGY. THEN GO TO SLEEP WITH A SMILE. IF HE GETS UP IN THE NIGHT HE CAN JUST TURN ON THE LIGHT. AND ITS ALL FREE. I HAVE ONE CONFESSION TO MAKE ABOUT THE ONE IN THE FIRST VIDEO THAT EVERYONE HAS COMPLEMENTED ON FROM THE BEGINNING. THAT IS , THAT THE ONE THAT IS IN THE VIDEO IS THE 7th OR 8th ONE I DID. I DID IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE BUT I DESTROYED ONE OF THE COIL SETS IN IT BY PULLING ON THE WIRES TO HARD WHILE I WAS RETHREADING THE WIRES TO COME OUT THE OTHER SIDE. BUT THE 12 VOLT SYSTEM INSTEAD OF 24 VOLT SYSTEM WILL NOT SLOW THE BLADES DOWN WHEN UNDER A LOAD SO IT PERFORMS AT ITS LOWERED MAXIMUM VOLTAGE MOST OF THE TIME. IT SEEMS TO KEEP MY SHOP RADIO AND FLOURESENT LIGHT GOING AS MUCH AS I NEED IT TO EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT RAINS AND THE WIND DOESNT BLOW FOR A FEW DAYS. ONE OF THE CEILING FAN MOTORS I HAVE IN THE SHOP WILL REPLACE THE ORIGIONAL U2B DEBUTED SPECIAL WITH MORE MAGNETS AND TWICE THE COILS FOR MORE OUTPUT. THE BLACK ONE IS CRANKING OUT 5 TIMES THE POWER ALREADY, IM JELOUS. AND IT COGS REAL HARD. AND WHEN YOU SHORT THE WIRES IT GETS REAL HARD TO TURN. THAT IS A GOOD TEST OF EFFICIENCY. ANY DC OR AC PERMANENT MAGNET MOTOR THAT YOU CAN SHORT THE WIRES OUT ON AND IT DOESNT WANT TO TURN IS A DARNED GOOD WIND TURBINE. IF WE ADD ANOTHER SET OF MAGNETS TO HIS IT WILL DUOBLE THE VOLTAGE AND WE WILL HAVE TO GO TO A HIGHER VOLTAGE BATTERY BANK WHICH IS GOOD SEEING AS THE COILS CAN ONLY PUT OUT 1 AMP PER SET. THERE ARE 2 SETS SO 2 AMP TIMES 48 VOLTS = 100 WATTS SO IF WE ADD THE MAGS IT WILL BE A 200 WATT UNIT WITHOUT HEATING UP THE WIRES BUT WE WILL HAVE TO GET 7 OR 8 BATTERIES. OR AT LEAST 4 OR 5 . TIME WILL TELL. MUDD

Muddy, I have a …
Muddy, I have a question. I have all the magnets in place and I tried to light up a 60watt light just like you did and yes, it worked! The only problem I have it that there is a bit of resistance when I spin the motor now. However, much more resistance when I ground all the wires together, as you did in your other video.
Is this normal, if so is there a way to make less resistance when the wires are not grounded?
I will be going to radio shack and get the diode.
oh my gosh . . . …
oh my gosh . . . the self imposed deprecating peanut gallery is hilarious!!!!
Yes a small bit of …
Yes a small bit of resistance will be felt in the turning of the alternator because of the steel laminates that the coils are wound on. They still conduct a small amount of current , called eddy currents.
To be simple in explanation,,,,: any where there is a circle of conductive matter ,( even if the center is filled), the circle of conductive matter will conduct when the magnetic flux changes or travels.

Geez, I’ve never …
Geez, I’ve never seen so much WORK for a project which could have used off-the-shelf auto alternator motors!
And when you have a …
And when you have a load connected to the alternator you will feel the resistance even more because ,: putting a load to the windings is like partialy shorting it out.
With no load you should be able to spin it around about 3 to 4 times on a single push with the hand. and when shorted out it should stop almost in one turn.

Ya But the …
Ya But the alternator needs power to make power wich drains the battery if its not blowing. and it takes 700RPMs just to start charging well. or it takes rewinding the stator and either machining the rotor and or expensive magnets. i can make one of these if im not filming, in 1 hour. and its cheap. I like the wind blew thing but they want you to spend a lot. besides the idea is to start charging in low winds, like the ones you have all the time.
most steel banding curls easier than this.

Hey Scott,
Just wondering where you picked up the steel banding for your project. I have gone to a couple local hardware stores and the stuff they had seemed to flimsy for a project like this. Let me know.
Thanks
There are low RPM …
There are low RPM alternators available for little more than standard alt. motors. They’ve already been reworked for the appl.

I went to the scrap …
I went to the scrap yard and spread a little cheer as i asked and I found a lot more than I needed. Behind big stores like WAL-MART OR ,LOWES , HOME DEPOT….. the steel banding is usually thrown away after it is taken off the big pallets of stuff shipped in. there is some wide banding that the mobile homes are strapped down with. look in the phone book for the guys that haul them and they will have some to throw away.

I have just been watching your video and I must admit it really is very good.
I really enjoyed watching it.
Already looking forward to more of the same in the future.
Cheers to your success.

Oky doky, I had …
Oky doky, I had that problem before. I make sure the steel banding is well glued down first. and then i check out the gap. And then i set the magnets on the outside of the motor in the possitions and configuration i will use. Then I carve a chop stick down to a wedge shape. then i slide the magnets to the inside one at a time. they will flip as they slide over the edge. as you put them into position iwedge the stick between rotor & mag. then place a drop of s glue and wait 10 min. then the next.
