My living room measures 16 by 16 feet with 17 feet ceiling height.has prewiring done for a light fixture in the center of the ceiling.how big of a chandelier would go well in that room and what is the wattage i should be looking at since it is going to be the only source of light in that room.
With that high of a ceiling a two to three tiered fixture would look wonderful. I would look at one that is approx. 40inches wide by 50inches high with maybe 8 to 10 lamps that would hold at least 60Watt bulbs. Put it on a dimmer control to control the amount of light needed for the activity you are doing. Just use this as a guide for an estimate of size. Just be aware that some of the larger type of chandelier are heavy and require a special mount to accommodate their weight.
