  1. Gaaaah …
Gaaaah electronics and wiring as soon as you started re-connecting everything my head started hurting.

I just wish I knew if it’s too late to simply remedy my current fan, the cone part inside the face plate attached to the ceiling is cracked and when I turn the fan on it isnt just unbalanced it actually looks and sounds like its going to go flying off.

Excellent Video on this ceiling fan topic.
I wish other videos are as well done.

  3. Wrong ottoman540, …
Wrong ottoman540, please don’t put tape on there, it is unnecessary and a big mess when I come to fix your loose connections in 6 months. Or maybe the fire dept will beat me to it. Just twist your wires correctly before you put the wire nuts on. And you also need a bushing in that knock-out of the fan box. Although she explained better than most.

  4. Anything on any …
Anything on any cheap fan will more than likely fail. Though I do have a 7 year old Hampton Bay spinner..still runs great with no problems..hopefully it holds up longer..but the newer fans today won’t last..they never do.

  5. I am trying to …
I am trying to replace a light fixture in my kitchen with a ceiling fan, but I’m not sure how to do it. I’m fairly certain that a fan was there at one point in time (probably the 70’s) because all the wires are there and the electrical box seems made for a fan, but the wires that are there now are all brown, white and black. My fan wires match the ones in this video (green, blue, red, and black) but I don’t know which ones to connect where, any ideas?

  6. Thank god we have …
Thank god we have stronger regulations in Australia. If your caught doing electrical work without a licence your arse is royaly fucked. This is to save lives. What if that circuit is not RCD protected, the wire coming into the electrical box rubs on the sharp edge and comes in contact with it. It runs down the frame of the fan and kills someone when they go to tug on the metal pull chain. Stranger things have happened.

She installed the new fan correctly, but look at 00:38 when she removes the canopy from the old fan. The previous installer left the wire nuts outside of the electrical box. WRONG. Great way to burn your house down.

  19. Those quick connect …
Those quick connect blades are crap. The will sag over time if you don’t have the fan on most of the time. So say in winter if you don’t use the fan at all the blades will begin to droop and bend. But they don’t tell you anything about that.

  21. Ummmm——- more …
Ummmm——- more like 30 min,– to an hour for me!. I wish the job was that fast! Good video, but one small thing missing,—– Before you stuff the wires up in the electrical box,—- It’s best to wrap the connected wires, and nuts at the end with electrical tape,—so you can avoid having them come un-done a few years later, and go to trun the fan on, and possibly sparking,- from the wires touching the mounting bracket!!. ——–I know, cause it has happened to me. It’s an honest mistake.
