Our bedroom ceiling light is a bare bulb. I have bought a shade but it won’t connect as the bulb is too close to the ceiling. I don’t want to do any electrical work. Was just wondering if there was such a thing as a short extension cable that plugs into the light bulb socket in the ceiling and then you can connect your light bulb to the other end……therfore lowering you light bulb down from the ceiling????
It’s called a socket extension, you can get them at electrical supply houses.

it is so easy to change the light fitting and inexpensive and would only take around 15 mins to do

yes they do have socket adapters, find them at any hardware store…

Nope. Not only would that be most unattractive, but also a safety hazard.
Call an electrician.
