hooking up a ceiling light without instructions?

i bought a floor sample ceiling light that came with no instructions. it has the one brown wire (splits into two copper) with a separate ground wire. i think i know the answer to this, but which side of the brown wire goes to hot, the side with the writing?
Yes , yes and yes……….mark is hot…….unmarked is neutral and then there’s a ground………so marked is black…..unmarkes is white……..and ground……..good luck
